Today was suppose to be my day off
Instead, I got called in to work at 8 AM. Then I canceled my lunch date for today, came home, slept for three hours, put a load of laundry in, made soup on a budget and am about to start downloading all the pictures I took during RebELLEs so that I can write a post about it.
Also, it’s been raining for two days straight here, my umbrella snapped and the rivers are swollen.

field-day-for-the-sundays:
Anon asked:
What’s wrong with cultural appropriation? I mean, I know it’s bad, but I need this one kind of spelled out for me. Is it always bad? Are some cases worse than others? I want to be a good anti-racist, but I fear I’m not educated enough.
whatfreshhellisthis responded:
Cultural appropriation exists because of centuries of:

I'm back from RebELLEs
And so tired. I just slept for five hours. So, I will have a post and pictures of all the things I did and my thoughts on the conference, but not now. I will mention that I came away with some fantastic emails and two CDs of amazing spoken word poets. So exciting.
Also, I have to figure out if I’m teaching about feminism in my high school tomorrow(!).

Parents keep child’s gender under wraps - Yahoo!... →

Thanks, quixoticandabsurd!
speakers-corner:
When many couples have a baby, they send out an email to family and friends that fills them in on the key details: name, gender, birth weight, that sort of thing. (You know the drill: “Both Mom and little Ethan are doing great!”)
But the email sent recently by Kathy Witterick and David Stocker of Toronto, Canada to...

RebELLEs Tumblr Meet Up
Also, I don’t think there is enough time for me to send a call out for a RebELLEs tumblr meet up. Instead, what I will offer is a description of myself. If you want to meet up with me tomorrow (and I would love to meet up and introduce myself to internet folks! Put a face to the tumblr, you know?), I will be wearing blue (kind of greenish blue) trousers, a black top, violet sweater. I also...

RebELLEs Day 2
Hey everyone, I have the draft of a post about day 2, but I’m not going to post it, yet.
There was lots of things going on, some good, many not so great. I will definitely blog about it more in detail as soon as I get some sleep and return from the gathering.
I will say that this has definitely been an interesting time.
Must go to bed, it’s 3 AM and the gathering begins at 9 AM...

I have arrived!!
In Winnipeg. It’s great. Staying at a friend’s house and her parents have been the most welcoming and hospitable.
I am off to register and attend the welcoming. More notes on that tonight hopefully and a plan for when to gather all the RebELLE tumblrs.
Weather is wonderfully warm and I’m wearing a onesie while surrounded by amazing friends and feminists.

I am getting picked up tomorrow after my doctor’s appointment. Woot. Cannot wait. I have bought oranges and grapes galore to share.
I’m also taking my lovely camera that I will learn how to use and my computer. I’m hoping to write a post everyday about my thoughts and impressions and the like. Also, to let those who weren’t/aren’t able to make it know what’s...
